Things to do Rwenzori Mountains: The Rwenzori Mountains are located on the border of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Also known as the mountains of the moon, as claimed by a Greek scholar Ptolemy. Its highest peak stands at 5,109 metres (16,762 ft) with the upper region permanently snow-capped and glaciated.

Wildlife

The Rwenzori Mountains have 6 ranges located a few miles from the equator, with the highest peak being Margherita at 5,109 m. These can be accessed on both routes, that is, via the Kilembe trail and the central circuit.
Lakes
Rwenzori Mountains National Park has about 20 lakes, with Lake Mahoma at 2651 m along the central circuit. Lake Bujuku is located near the Bujuku Valley in the shadow of Mount Stanley and Baker and Speke. Tourists should make it a point to visit at least one of the lakes and enjoy this experience.
Birding
There are over 217 bird species that inhabit the Rwenzori Mountains National Park, of which 17 are endemic to the Rwenzori Mountains National Park, which makes it an important birding area. The forest zone at 1800m comprises a number of birds like the barbets, apalises, illadopsis, flycatchers & crimsonwings. Rwenzori turaco, Rwenzori Batis, Archers’ robin chat, white-starred robin, and even the rare montane sooty boubou; greenbuls; Lagden’s bush shrike; slender-billed starling; strange weaver; not forgetting the golden-winged sunbird, handsome francolin, barred long-tailed cuckoo, blue-headed sunbird, long-eared owl, and cinnamon-chested bee-eater.
