Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is located in southwestern Uganda, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park covers an area of 321 kilometers of both lowland and montane forest. It is also a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization [UNESCO] designated World Heritage Site. It is home to the rare and famous mountain gorillas, over 350 bird species, 1,000 flowering plants that include 104 fern species and over 200 species of trees, over 315 butterfly species, and 27 frog species, among others. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park was designated as a national park in 1991 and is managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority [UWA].

By Road
This is about an 8-9 hour drive from Entebbe International Airport. Tourists coming through from Kigali can access the park through the Kyanika or Katuna border, approximately 175 kilometers from Kigali International Airport. Therefore, for tourists who don’t like spending so many hours on the road to access Bwindi National Park, Kigali is the best option.
By Air
There are both scheduled and charter flights at Entebbe International Airport and Kajjansi Airfield; therefore, for tourists who don’t wish to spend much time driving on the road, air transport becomes the best means to access the park, and they can use either Kihihi or Kisoro airstrip.
